Your Guide to Statutory Sick Pay

Staff are eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if they’ve been ill for at least 4 days in a row and earn at least £113 per week before tax. This includes agency workers. Staff are allowed up to 28 weeks of SSP, and tax and National Insurance payments are deducted from the amount.

Employees must get £89.35 per week if they’re off work with an illness, and they only have to provide a Doctor’s note if they’ve been ill for longer than 7 days.

Staff can’t claim SSP if they’re already getting Maternity Pay.
